Rochester Turkish Folk & Arts Festival August 28 to 30 is Celebrating 20 Years!
3 Days of Food, Music and Family Fun Promised at Rochester’s Festival Celebrating Turkey’s Rich Culture.
ROCHESTER, NY., AUGUST 20,2015- On Friday, August 28 the 20th Annual Rochester Turkish Arts & Folk Festival Celebration will kick off beginning at 5:00pm at the Turkish Society of Rochester, located at 677 Beahan Rd.
This 3-day festival celebrating Turkey’s Rich Culture, the 20th Annual Turkish Arts & Folk Festival welcomes more than 4,000 attendees annually. Guests are expected to travel from all over the Western New York region to enjoy the unique sights and sample the authentic food of Turkey. Visitors will also be able to browse and buy Turkish products, souvenirs and handcrafts, and participate in activities for children. The festival will also feature folk dance performances, live traditional music, and fortune telling. With all the vendors and exhibits, there’s something for everyone to do.
The line-up of performances will include:
- Internationally renowned Collage Dance Ensemble with “Medley from Anatolia”
- Sufi Sema (Whirling Dervish accompanied by Sufi Music) by Onur and Agah
- Saturday night concert by the talented representatives of Turkish Music, Hasan Isakkut and
“Without leaving the town of Chili, visitors will vividly experience Istanbul and various regions of Turkey together with the participants from Turkish-Americans living in the culturally diverse community of Rochester.”, said Turkish Society President Ali Yavuz.
The festival kicks off Friday August 28th and opens at 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Saturday opens at 12:00pm to 7:00pm, and Sunday opens at 12:00pm to 9:00pm; admission to the Turkish Arts & Folk festival is free. There is no fee for parking and event is open to the public.
